File.Business complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512. We respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement that meet the requirements of the DMCA.
02How to submit a takedown notice
To submit a DMCA takedown notice, send a written communication to our Designated Agent that includes:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or someone authorized to act on their behalf
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and information reasonably sufficient to locate it (URL, customer ID, document name)
- Your contact information (name, address, phone, email)
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed

04Counter-notice
If you believe content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice containing:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the material that was removed and its location before removal
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification
- Your name, address, and phone number, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court in the judicial district in which your address is located (or in Delaware if outside the US), and agreeing to accept service of process from the original complainant or its agent
If we receive a valid counter-notice and the original complainant does not file a court action within 10-14 business days, we may restore the removed material.
05Repeat infringers
We maintain a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
06Misrepresentation
Knowingly making a material misrepresentation in a DMCA notice or counter-notice may result in liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), including attorneys' fees and costs.
