What is the difference between UCC and tax lien?
UCC: secured-creditor interest in personal property from a loan or sale. Filed with state SOS. Tax lien: IRS or state revenue department claim on debtor's property for unpaid taxes. Filed with state SOS or county recorder. Different filings, different uses.
What is included in a due-diligence package?
Our complete DD package: UCC search, federal tax lien search, state tax lien search, judgment lien search, bankruptcy search. Multi-jurisdiction coverage. Required for M&A, major lender underwriting, real estate purchase due diligence.
How fast can you turn around a search?
Same business day if received by 3pm ET. Electronic searches (UCC, PACER) return within hours. Manual searches (county recorder, older systems) take a full business day.
Do I get the raw documents?
Search reports are summary documents listing active filings with key details. Order specific documents (UCC-1 financing statement copy, NFTL copy, court complaint) as add-ons. Bankruptcy document order: $19 per document via PACER.
What about international jurisdictions?
We cover US states and DC. International filings (Canadian PPSA, UK Companies House charges) are out of scope. For those we refer to an international agent.
